A Statement From A Collective of Collectives

The participating members of A Collective of Collectives feel a moral and cultural responsibility to speak out against the ongoing atrocities - the mass displacement, bombardment, and deprivation - currently taking place in Gaza. As artists, curators, performers, authors, cultural workers and much more, we believe that silence in the face of oppression is complicity.

We condemn the punishment, abuse, displacement and systematic destruction that is inflicted upon Palestinian people. We recognize these actions as part of continuing colonial violence, and as acts that constitute genocide in Gaza today.

Our commitment to art is inseparable from our commitment to human dignity, justice, and liberation. It is our view that the arts are a site of resistance, solidarity, and support, and we affirm our alignment with the Palestinian struggle for freedom.

Additionally, we affirm that criticism of state policies and actions is not antisemitism, and we reject all forms of racism, including antisemitism and Islamophobia.

A Collective of Collectives joins the global voice that demands an end to Israel’s genocide in Gaza and the broader system of apartheid and dispossession. We believe that neutrality is siding with the oppressor, and that art must take sides in times of injustice. As such, we choose the side of liberation, solidarity, and life.
