Mouries collective → Book launch — Picnicking Matters

Saturday October 12, 19:00 ─ 21:00

Picnicking Matters: Big questions and tiny revelations around care and healing ecologies is a polyphonic, experimental publication by Mouries, an ecofeminist arts-based collective in Greece.

Born from workshops centred on writing, dialogue, and listening, it reflects evolving internal dynamics, political intentions, and collective practices. The book holds insights, contradictions, and healing processes across five chapters featuring poetic reflections, interviews, shared narratives, a failed funding application, and a community feedback session. Rich with imagery, prompts, and references, it invites nonlinear, picnic-like exploration.
Launched as part of a public festival, the book marks a celebratory moment in the collective’s ongoing journey of care, collaboration, and transformation amidst social and ecological precarity.

We, Mouries Collective, are a fluid and interdisciplinary group of female artists, researchers and therapists based in Athens, Greece. Originally gathered due to our common interests in healing and divination practices, we recently focused on developing connections with trees, plants and the diverse beings with whom we share this planet. We are now working under the theme of healing and (e)merging women’s knowledge while refining our collective processes.

We engage through encounters and workshops that are multi-media, inter-sectional, inclusive, creative mixes, either intervening in public space or exploring group dynamics through the framework of care.

Mouries first came together as a collective project in May of 2021. At this time we are Isabel Gutierrez Sanchez, Maria Juliana Byck, Thalia Dimitropoulou, Vasilikí Sifostratoudaki and Eliana Otta.
