HGW → Exhibition opening — 11317
Friday October 10, 18:00 ─ 22:00
11317 is a number. A figure in a file. My patient ID. A means of identification. A reference without a face, without a name.
This exhibition does not begin with a desire to tell a story. It begins with the need to convey something that resists words: the experience of HIV, of cancer, of treatment, of fear, of silence, of hospital light that illuminates everything — except what hurts.
The body here is not represented. It is not explained. It simply exists. Moments, fragments, gestures — from then and from now. An archival video. Photographs of observation and impression. Two paintings made together with my mother — without sketches, without rehearsal. Only need and desire. The endlessness of life, of decay, of hope.
There is no single language. No fixed narrative. There is space. And time. Material. Abstraction. Presence.
11317 is not a work about illness. It is a work through illness. And beyond.
